STEADY CYCLE

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo registered a cycle in the victory over the Colorado Rockies Tuesday night. It started when Choo doubled in the second inning,  hit a home run in the fourth, and singled in the fifth and tripled in the ninth. He is one of two players this MLB season to complete such milestone. The 9-0 victory helped the Rangers move a game closer to .500 as they look to make a playoff run with under 50 games left in the season.

VERY BARRY

THE BIRTH LLC honors NFL Hall of fame legend Barry Sanders as he celebrates his 47th birthday. Barry Sanders spent his entire NFL career totting the rock for the Detroit Lions at the historic Pontiac Silverdome right outside the Detroit city limits. Barry spent 10 years in the NFL, from 1989 to 1999. His decision to retire was highly predicated on his inability to have any substantial post-season success with the Lions. He wanted to retire after the Lions refused to trade him, not because he was of age but because he was interested in keeping his brilliant legacy as is. The NFL Network held a documentary "A Football Life" on Barry during Black History month earlier this year showing his tough love relationship with his father who would even at the conclusion of his son's career refer to Barry as just the 3rd best running back in NFL History.

THE BIRTH LLC appreciates everything Barry Sanders brought to the NFL. His 5'8 200 lbs stature made it very difficult for defenders to bring Barry to the earth. His power, speed and elusiveness was second to none. He was robbed of the Heisman trophy during his NCAA career and remained humble unto the pros, subsiding the possibility of breaking records just because his love for the game had diminished. Barry currently sits 3rd on the all-time on the NFL rushing yards list with 15,269 yards. The two players above him ; Walter Payton & Emmitt Smith, played more career seasons than Barry. Of course Barry appreciates simply being able to be mention amongst the greats. Some critics though, acclaim Barry Sanders as the best to ever do it.

AL THAT'S ALL

The 86th MLB All-Star game sponsored by T-Mobile was held in Cincinnati at the Great American Ball park last night. The game was ended in a 6-3 scoring outcome in which the American League came out on the top of the contest. Thanks to a Mike Trout home run that got the collaborative going in the 1st inning, the AL took home the All-star game victory honors, bragging rights for the 2015 season and have secured home field advantage in the upcoming World Series. This was a the third straight MLB All Star game win for the AL as they continue to stomp out the NL in the best of the best annual contest. The NL was though involved in a few highlights from the game including a Andrew McCutchen home run that went flying over the wall in left field. The real implications of the outcome of this contest though is the fact that the division which has gained home field advantage in the World Series has won 5 of the last 6 World Series championship. The only exception was last year when the San Francisco Giants defeated the cinderella story of the Kansas City Royals in Game 7 at Kauffman Stadium.

This season the AL Division is led by the Kansas city Royals who are looking to make another World Series run in the 2015 MLB post-season. They're tailed buy respectable rosters like the Astros and Yankees but are seasoned to overcome last year's shortcomings to finish the deal this time. In the NL The St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates sit both with 50 plus wins on their record books.

Halfway through the 2015 MLB season this is basically how things are panning out. Stay tuned as the MLB post-season is fast approaching. For sports news and media subscribe to THE BIRTH LLC.

LIFE IS SERENE FOR SERENA

Over the weekend, women's tennis superstar Serena Williams captured her 6th Wimbledon Championship. At age 33 she is clearly still a force to be reckoned with out on the court. Williams has now won her last 28 matches in major tournaments a clear statistic that should be far from undermined. This Grand Slam victory though is her first since the 1999 U.S Open. Her plethora of hardware includes that from the Australian, U.S, plus French Open and Wimbledon of course. After her victory she placed the trophy on top of her head in celebration of the hard earned victory. The Florida born Williams continuous to show over the last decade the type of dedication that contributes to her long lived legacy in women's tennis.

Congratulations to Serena Williams in her victory at Wimbledon this weekend. Much success to her in upcoming matches and tournaments. For sports news and media subscribe to THE BIRTH LC.

A FAIR CATCH

Long time Ravens kicker Sam Koch signed a $16.25 million five-year extension with the Baltimore franchise earlier this afternoon. His nine seasons with the Ravens have been quite rewarding, over five post-season appearances and a Super Bowl XLVII victory to go along with that as well. Over Koch's career he has 251 punts inside of the 20 yard line, has kicked a long of 74 yards and is arguably one of the best punters the NFL has to offer. Surely, Ozzie Newsome and the Baltimore Ravens welcome the all-pro punter to extend his career with the team.

What will the Ravens look like in 2015? They'll look like the Ravens of course. The "next man up" schematic has worked for head coach John Harbaugh and the AFC North Ravens season after season. Though they lost big names like Jacoby Jones, Torrey Smith and Haloti Ngata to free agency they certainly relish the opportunity to prove to the league that they know what they're doing. The defensive based AFC team is well-renewed for its defensive efforts but they may morph into an offensive fire power in the 2015 season with new offensive coordinator Marc Trestman. Let's not speak so soon on the limitations there in. Going into training camp the Ravens certainly have a lot to get situated.

LOYAL LILLARD

Just as the Trail Blazers watched their superstar power forward flee Portland for San Antonio, they sat anxious to see whether or not their superstar guard Damian Lillard would sign an extension or leave the future of the franchise hanging out to dry. Luckily, Damian went forth and signed a 5 year $120 million extension staying loyal to the Portland Trail Blazers. Lillard turns 25 on the 15th of July so surely he'll celebrate his inheritance with a special selected endeavor. The Trail Blazers selected Lillard from Weber State in the 2012 NBA Draft and he has been nothing less than stellar for the franchise that keeps on getting better and better. Last year Lillard averaged around 22 points a game helping the Trail blazers to clinch a #4 seeding in the 2014-15 Playoffs this summer in a run that turned out to be short lived.

Lillard's young and promising career will only manifest into legacy if he remains the humble dedicated player he is today. His decision to remain in Portland speaks volumes to his loyalty and selflessness as a young professional in the NBA, especially in the generation we live in today where honor has diminished. Whether or not the Blazers will be the same success they were in 2014 is highly questionable but undoubtedly they can expect Damian to continue to bring his entire effort to the hardwood every night.

YOU SAY WATT?

There were hundreds of possible players who could have made this years NFL Top 100 list but Houston Texans DE J.J Watt has taken the #1 spot. J.J Watt has undoubtedly been phenomenal in his service to the Houston Texans and his sizable $20/yr million contract that has 5 years left on it. The 25 year old registered 20.5 sacks in last years NFL season, an interception TD, three offensive receiving TD's , four forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. Unless the Houston Texans plan to have Watt kick a few field goals in the upcoming NFL season it is safe to say that his production for the franchise is quite sufficient. Congratulations J.J Watt on an excellent 2014 NFL season.

The question now is can the Houston Texans rally enough offensive power to push themselves back to the top of the AFC South division? They've already lost all-pro wide receiver Andre Johnson to free agency but they've acquired some names that might do them good justice. They brought in Brian Hoyer to throw the ball, Keyshawn Jackson is still in his youth outside at the receiver position and Cecil Shorts has come over from the Jacksonville Jags to assist in the passing attack as well. They were able to finish last season with a 9-7 record, not so bad considering the injuries they faced on defense with the absence of Brian Cushing. The improved Indianapolis Colts will be looking to take the division yet again but Houston might have a little to say about that this upcoming season.

LOOK AT THE RISK OF THE WRIST

New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI champion defensive end Pierre Paul was granted a franchise tag $60 million contract earlier this spring at the conclusion to the 2014-15 NFL season. Over the weekend though, his independence day incident has caused his granted contract to be revoked. Apparently Jason Pierre-Paul hurt himself while igniting fireworks in the July 4th celebration that led to a severe hand injury. NFL media is reporting that Pierre-Paul was required severe medical attention and that the Giants have credible clause for this revoking.

The 26th year old Pierre-Paul has yet to go public in regards to the incident. Pierre-Paul can still sign his $14.8 million 2015-16 season contract and has yet to do so as on now. Sttay tuned to THE BIRTH LLC for more 2015 NFL offseason moves.

SPUR OF THE MOMENT

Long time Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Alridge enjoyed the liberty of his free agency this summer as he shopped himself to several NBA Western Conference franchises including the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns. On July 4th, the holiday for America's independence, LaMarcus Aldridge closed on a deal with the San Antonio Spurs joining NBA Champion veterans Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard and head coach Greg Poppovinch. Sources are reporting that his signing will include a four year $80 million contract and of course an increased chance at an 2015-16 NBA title.

LaMarcus Aldridge helped the Portland Trail Blazers get a number four seeding in the 2014-15 Playoffs but their post-season run was limited due to their first round adversary the Memphis Grizzlies. It's not inconceivable that the fact that Aldridge's nine years as a professional basketball player has rendered him not a single conference finals appearance nor lengthy post-season run. Last year, Aldridge gave the Trail Blazers 23.4 points per game in a 51-31 winning season. Sadly, the full potential of Portland was not exercised in the Playoffs because guard Westley Matthews was injured with an achilles injury. LaMaracus may have been insensitive to the possibilities of staying in Portland in what seems to have been a developing team. His 10th year decision to sign with one of the more prestige of franchises in the NBA is a clear indication that his off-season career move is based moreover on a desire to win. He'll endeavor into the systematic offense that is likely to get him many open shots. His term in Portland forced him to play a lot of one on one where he was of lesser effect. It'll be interesting to see LaMaracus in a Spurs jersey this upcoming fall.

THEY SIGNED ME - 2015 NBA DRAFT REFLECTIONS

The NBA Draft 2015 concluded last week as many NCAA and international ball players will get an opportunity to be in the spotlight in one of the world's most popular major sports associations this upcoming fall. The #1 overall pick this year  Karl-Anthony Towns will head over to Minnesota in hopes to assist Rubio and Wiggins in clinching a Playoff spot in the stingy NBA Western Conference. Jahlil Okafor from the 2015 NCAA Men's Basketball champion Duke Blue Devils will try his luck out in the NBA Eastern Conference after being drafted 3rd overall by the leagues worst team last season, the Philadelphia 76ers. Okafor will play alongside Nerleans Noel in effort to bring the brotherly love long lost back out in Pennsylvania. Wisconsin forward Sam Dekker was taken by the Houston Rockets who could definitely use some additional shooting from the forward position. The addition of Dekker alongside with the possibility of getting Lamarcus Aldridge can make Houston the team to beat out west when the 2015-16 season began this Fall.

PELICANS INK DAVIS

Certainly, C Anthony Davis was key in the Pelicans 2014-15 Playoffs run that ended in a 1st round loss to the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. New Orleans fired head coach Monti Williams earlier this summer immediately after the loss, and hired associate head coach of the Warriors Alvin Gentry to come in and take over the duties. The 8th seeded NBA western conference franchise has a promising future to say the least and has assured chances of 2015-16 season success by signing Anthony Davis to a 5/year 145 million contract extension. Davis averaged 24.4 points and 10 rebounds the entire 2014-15 season. These statistics actually then improved in the playoffs as he went into a series against the Warriors and produced 31.5 points per game in a losing effort. Unless this 22 year old basketball guru is to have a brutal injury in his career he'll definitely emerge as one of the NBA's elite players in upcoming seasons.

The Western Conference is still arguably the better of the two NBA conferences judging by season records of the teams when compared. No blemish should be thrown unto the New Orleans Pelicans clinching a playoff berth in the 2014-15 season but the berth did come due to a inhibited Oklahoma City Thunder team that was without Kevin Durant the majority of last season. Really the question going forward is how competitive can the New Orleans Pelicans be in the Western Conference next year? A 45-37 season record landed them the 8th spot out west while if they were in the east they might've landed a 5th or higher seeding. Guard Jrue Holiday missed a sizable amount of games with a ankle injury last season, and Davis did as well with a nagging shoulder injury. Possibly, the Pelicans can have faith in their youthful roster as they look to turn the Smoothie King Center into a place no one likes to come and play. It'll be interesting to see how things play out in the 2015-16 NBA season.
