Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered in African/American History for his miraculous efforts as a Civil Rights activist during the 20th Century. Dr. King embodied a prestige. Academic qualities and leadership skills fueled his campaign for anti-segregation during the Jim Crow Era. Without Dr. Kings' approach, which involved peace and tranquility, the turmoil between blacks and whites in American Society might have remained. The Potential society Dr. King presented in his public speaks threatened white supremacist and racism in the American country. King spoke not out of hatred, but with progressional incentive, to end racial barriers within the world forever more. With racial tensions arising at the beginning of the 20th century, many African Americans grew bitter. Hindered by the Fugitive Slave Law in the late 1700's, deceived by the contradictions within the Emancipation Proclamation in the following century, and the constant separate but equal ideologies promoted in U.S society in the Mid 1900's made thoughts of an integration American vaguely insurmountable. Slavery had ended not even 100 years prior, the country was just recovering from the Great Depression and foreign affairs remained the primary focus of the American Government. Internal movements like the Civil Rights brought light unto the social inequalities in America. This allowed the Civil rights movement to gain leverage not only in American media streams & culture but also throughout the entire world. Dr. Martin Luther Kings' efforts will sustain as a highlight in 20th Century American History as his efforts captivated American citizens, community by community, black and white all for the manifestation of a new society where legal segregation would no longer exist.
