PATRIOTIC VALUES

Tom Brady visit to court this morning did all but grant him innocency in the deflation scam that occurred in last seasons NFL AFC championship. News reporters still expect Brady to as his initial punishment stated, suspension of the 1st four regular season games (which begin this Sunday). Reports also are telling the media that a final decision will be made this Friday deciding what is to happen. For now Brady is maintaining his innocence driven by a desire to get the New England Patriots offense off to a good start it what will be a competitive AFC East division this year.

WAYNE BRADY SHOW

Now everyone remembers Wayne Brady from ABC network's comical "Who's Line Is It Anyway" series. Random, yes we know. Nothing though is more random than recent news that long time Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne signed to the New England Patriots earlier this week.     I guess this is simply preparation for the new Wayne-Brady show, set to debut at Foxboro this upcoming fall. Wayne's remarks about the business decision was simply "I want to win." Don't we all Reggie?

Tom Brady will definitely enjoy having Wayne aboard, especially if his pending appeal is to mature granting him minimal suspension. Many Colts fans feel betrayed and for obvious reasons. Indianapolis made many off-season acquisitions including signing HB Frank Gore, veteran WR Andre Johnson and OLB Trent Cole. These moves were not enough to keep Wayne's thoughts of retirement a likely decision. Wayne had to be disgusted with the way the Colts got slaughtered in last season's AFC Championship. The New England Patriots defeated Indianapolis and went on to win Super Bowl XLIX. The accomplishment is certainly something Wayne coveted in his 14th season as a Colts player. Wayne figures, if you can't beat them join them. His 15th season includes a 1/yr contract worth $3 million and a chance to play alongside the defending NFL champions.

LAMBEAU LET DOWN

In just the 1st quarter of yesterday's  pre-season contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson tore his ACL. On a play that seemed minor, the receiver jumped to make a catch and landed directly on his feet. After his land, he turned to tread up field and immediately collapsed on his knees. After the play, Nelson signaled to the sideline for an substitution. Though Jordy was able to march into the locker room without the emergency cart, NFL sources are reporting that Nelson indeed tore his ACL and will not be participating in the upcoming 2015 NFL regular season.

Packers fans certainly grieve losing their all-pro wideout. Nelson produced 13 TD's and 98 total receptions in the 2014, playing as Aaron Rodgers's go to guy in crucial situations. Going forward Green Bay will look for young speedster Randall Cobb and upcoming wide receiver Davante Adams to accommodate for this extreme loss. The Packers finished 1st in the NFC North last season with a 12-4 record. This season, they'll deal with an improved Detroit Lions defense, a revitalized Minnesota Vikings team and a NFC conference that has and will continue to be very competitive. Though Aaron Rodgers and head coach Mike McCarthy may act with composure, they definitely understand the significance of this calamity.

PRE-SEASON THEATRICS

Though it was just a pre-season showdown against the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers  linebacker Ryan Shazier was out to show no slack in the annual Hall of Fame game last night. Shazier muscled five tackles playing in just the first half of the contest. One couldn't help but notice Ryan's energy on the field. He'll be responsible for carrying the load for a Steelers defense that loss many big names this off-season due to retirement. Certainly, Steelers retiree's Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor held pride in Shazier's effort, but surely understand that the pre-season isn't where it counts, that's a little further down the road. Note below a remark Shazier gave during post-game questiong after last nights contest.

Is it important to not make too much out of the outcome of this game?
A game is a game. Every time we play another team, we play to win. However, they beat us and we beat ourselves. We have to move forward and come back better next time.

Furthermore, the Steelers for the most part looked a tad bit unconcerned. They took their 14-3 defeat carelessly while the Minnesota Vikings took the victory just as carelessly. Conclusively, the credit for the outcome therefore goes to the victorious Minnesota Vikings. While QB Big Ben Rothlisberger, HB Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown sat of the sideline for the majority of the contest, QB Teddy Bridgewater, HB Adrian Peterson and  WR Mike Wallace did the exact same on the opposite sideline. What should be taken from this game despite of what Ryan Shazier was trying to showcase is that the Steelers may be suspect on the defensive side of the ball going into 2015. The Steelers ranked 18th in Defense for the 2014 NFL season while the Vikings ranked 14th. While that Steelers 18th ranking is likely to slide to around 23rd with the departure of franchise names, the Vikings with the return of Adrian Peterson on offense, may be able to manage games and rest their defense and increase its potency.

Oh how the 2015 NFL season is fast approaching. There's no more hiding, there is no more theatrics it's time to show up and show out. For sports news and media subscribe to THE BIRTH LLC.

LITTLE LEVY

NFL sources have now reported that the Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy has been granted by a four-year extension. Numbers are still being negotiated but reporters are saying Levy will become one of the leagues highest paid players at his position when things are finalized  Levy registered an incredible 150 tackles and 2.5 sacks for the 2nd ranked Detroit Lions defense last season.  Levy's pay was well deserved. His production clearly at the top of the top and his loyalty to the organization has been of humility and dedication. Congratulations on your new contract DeAndre Levy.

The Detroit Lions certainly grieved the departure of All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh earlier in the off-season. They countered the loss of Suh by signing long-time Baltimore Ravens' defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. Detroit will also be getting linebacker Stephen Tulloch back from injury in the upcoming season which will help continue the unbending Lions run defense Suffering the heartbreak of last years postseason defeat to the Dallas Cowboys, the Lions are due to make an more convincing statement in the 2015 season. They will be challenged in a NFC North division that has Minnesota rejoicing over the return of Adrian Peterson and a Green Bay Packers adversary that came just one game of the Super Bowl last season. The goal for the Lions organization must extend beyond the obtaining of a Wild Card spot. Detroit fans want more. Luckily they'll be endowed with the luxury of Levy.
