DEJA VU : THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (WEEK 7)

The NFC West has looked quite competitive this season. Though the Arizona Cardinals were in full stride, they suffered a road loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend. Pittsburgh installed third string QB Landry Jones into arguably the most prolific offense in the league to drop the Cardinals to 4-2. This is good news of course for both the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. They both sit at an undesirable 2-4 going into Week 7 and will match-up tonight for Thursday Night Football. The game will be held at Levi Stadium where they will be meeting for the 1st of two 2015 regular season match-ups. While both of these teams continue to search for their true identity, NFL fans will enjoy this hostile rivalry at 8:25 p.m. E.T on CBS. Before kickoff of course, we're here to give as usual our pre-game run down.

The San Francisco 49ers seemed a bit too pompous about defeating the struggling Baltimore Ravens (1-5) in Week 6. The Niners 20-25 victory over Baltimore was led by a supposedly rejuvenated QB Colin Kaepernick. Colin went 16-27 on pass attempts producing 340 yards and two touchdowns. His 128.2 QB rating last week certainly deserves  acclaim but tonight against the Seahawks who are more than pumped after being bashed in the media this week, I wouldn't count on it being a Colin fest. Of course we know about Kaepernick's struggle against the Cardinals a few weeks ago and that's the reason I won't give him credit for shredding a Ravens defense that was annihilated by Raiders QB Derek Carr, Bengals QB Andy Dalton and every other starting QB in the league this year. Even with Seattle struggling how they have,  I still don't like the 49ers chances in this game.

Two consecutive 4th quarter collapses has a should be 4-2 Seattle team sitting at 2-4. There is no gimmes in this league and NFL analyst Mike Mayock said it best, "there are no fruits" to be given to this years Seahawks team. What Seattle needs to do is prove themselves worthy of being called the best team in the NFC. Only ignorance would make one think they aren't capable of competing. Three of there four loses have come against undefeated teams (Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers & Cincinnati Bengals). Busted coverages and clashing ego's seem to be a vice in the Seattle secondary. A unseemly RB Marshawn Lynch returned against a Carolina Panthers defense that is no walk in the park and produced 54 yards rushing on 17 attempts. Seattle needs to run the ball and get their defense some rest. I'm confident that the young Legion of boom will redeem themselves tonight. I predict an Seahawks victory (23-14) tonight.
