SAINT OF HEART : THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (NFL WEEK 6)

The NFC South is a interesting specimen in the NFL this season because it has the only division with two undefeated teams. Surprisingly, it is one the best divisions the NFL has offered this year (along with the NFC North & AFC East). Tonight, long time rivals match-up in a Thursday Night Football slugfest. The New Orleans Saints will host the Atlanta Falcons at the Mercedes Superdome to see who's who in Week 6 of the NFL. While it might be rather easy to make a practical prediction (as I will here), there is a reason these games get played on the field and not just on paper. Below let's make some pre-game analysis to get you ready for tonight.

Atlanta struggled against a stout Washington defense Sunday afternoon but still had enough heart to get a Week 6 victory by the score of 25-19. The Falcons who sit 1st in the NFC South with a 5-0 record have fans and NFL analyst sincerely wondering are they Super Bowl bound. As I always like to evaluate, the quality of Atlanta's opponents over five weeks haven't been of much prestige. Four out of five of the opponents the Falcons contended against this season are teams with losing records. While a formula for defeating a steady Atlanta Falcons team is yet to be discovered in 2015, here are a few things we do know. QB Matt Ryan cannot afford to give Saints QB Drew Brees the same opportunities that were granted to QB Kirk Cousins. Ryan threw two interceptions, and had a fumble Sunday afternoon. A Redskins fourth quarter field goal may have been a fourth quarter lead forfeiting touchdown for the Saints.  Nevertheless, tonight may be a game which allows the Falcons offense to get back on track against a New Orleans defense that allowed the Philadelphia Eagles 39 points in Week 5.

Terrible. That's a word to describe New Orleans visit to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia this weekend. Their 39-17 loss had Saints head coach Sean Payton and Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan scratching their heads. Who are the Saints? Right now they're one of the worst teams the NFL has to offer. It is therefore folly to predict them winning against an undefeated Falcons team. Surely QB Brees will be looking to redeem his performance in Week 6 in which he had two fumbles and a interception. On a short week, QB Drew Brees and the Saints will be looking to give New Orleans fans something to cheer about in the primetime lights.
