Golden State caught fire in Game 4 of the NBA Finals putting the Cavs asunder on their own court at the Quicken Loans Arena. The 103-82 victory ended the two game losing streak for the Warriors and tied the series back up at 2-2 as Golden State heads back home Sunday night looking to get the series lead. Head coach Steve Kerr must be relieved, for his prestige was definitely under scrutiny as the Warriors dodged a possible 3-1 deficit by defeating one of the better home teams in the NBA on this biggest stage. Certainly, the Warriors will take the momentum gained last night back home where they've lost only 2 games this post-season. The Warriors just may smell blood, and need to take advantage of this Golden opportunity.
The story of the night was the offensive onslaught the Warriors produced. Their revised starting five lineup was built around the idea to go small. Forward Andre Iguodala got the start over Andrew Bogut which created mismatches and a fast pace obviously favoring the Golden State tempo style. The Warriors scored nearly 40 points in the 1st quarter and led for all but the first few minutes of the game. Both MVP Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala put out 22 points. That 44 combined was aided by Draymond Green's 17 points, a Harrison Barnes 14 points and a smash mouth Golden State offensive effort altogether. The Warriors held Cleveland to a 14.8% FG statistic from three-point range, forced them to shoot 88 shots total which is completely out of their game style, and put Cavs fans hopes of gaining a 3-1 NBA Finals series lead back in it's think-again tank. Superstar LeBron James received a brutal head gash from crashing into the camera on a baseline drive in the second quarter. Soon, NBA media will inform sports outlets and fans on whether or not anything serious might have occurred. With the Cavs already short-handed, trust that it will be impossible for them to compete without King James.
The series a took a significant spin. Will the Warriors emerge to take a 3-2 series lead or will they have their feelings crushed in Game 5?
