HOW COME HOWARD?
With Game 2 of the NBA Western Conference finals set to kick off this evening, the Houston Rockets remain questionable about whether or not all-star center Dwight Howard will play. Yes, the Rockets did gain a 14 point lead on the Warriors in the 1st half of Game 1, but that quickly diminished when Howard fell on his leg hurting his knee and fans watched as a few Stephen Curry three-pointers fell producing a Western Conference Game 1 Warriors victory. The NBA MVP credited the holy ghost for his 34 point outing in Game 1 and brought his beloved daughter to the press conference to celebrate the victory. Curry was aided by forward Harrison Barnes and guard Shaun Livingston who combined for 32 points in the 110-106 victory at Oracle Arena. Though things were a bit chippy, Golden State pulled it out with some resilience and will look to get another win tonight whether Dwight Howard participates or not.
Undeniably, the holy ghost was moving on shooting guard James Harden as well in Game 1. Harden produced 28 points, 21 of which came in the 4th quarter where the Rockets came up just short. James is used to being without his big man. Seeing that Dwight missed 40 plus games in the regular season, Harden was the usual suspect for the Rockets 50 plus win season that got them all the way here in the Western Conference Finals. Shockingly, even though Howard missed the majority of the second half of Game 1, he still led all participants in rebounds with 13. It would be completely ignorant to pretend as if Howard's presence down low in the paint won't make an extreme difference but both teams still have a lot to prove on a merit level whether they're with or without the players they believe pivotal. Game 2 should be just as exciting as Game 1 was the other night, a NBA fan's delight.
